About Rachel

Rachel Thompson is a facilitator, editor, business strategist, and an educator. As the founder of Daring Studios, she creates interactive, supportive, and meaningful experiences for solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and creatives.
Self-employed since 2016, Rachel loves working both IN the business and ON the business and strives to help others build sustainable, supportive, and strategic businesses through workshops, programs, retreats, and coaching.
Rachel has over fifteen years of professional experience as a facilitator and business consultant including strategic facilitation, virtual meeting design and facilitation, meeting design and production, workshop facilitation, conference, summit and retreat design and facilitation, human-centered design and design thinking workshops, storytelling, experiential learning and teaching, business coaching, visual template design, worksheet design, website design, copywriting, marketing, branding and podcast production.Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and French from Kansas State University and is a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF). Rachel is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), International Association of Facilitators (IAF), and International Forum of Visual Practitioners (IFVP).She has taught as a Design Thinking Facilitator at the Academy of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland and as an Adjunct Instructor for the Design Leadership MA/MBA program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).Her work has been shaped by extensive learning, courses, and workshops from Brené Brown, Seth Godin, Tiffany Yates Martin, Tara McMullin, Brian Tarallo, Nic Antoinette, Jason and Caroline Zook, Amelia Hruby, Marie Forleo, Priya Parker, Brandy Agerbeck, the Grove, Co-Active Coaching, Ten Directions, and more.Rachel has been a co-organizer of the NOVA Scribes Meetup, the DC Graphic Facilitation Meetup, and the Design Thinking: DC Meetup where she has produced 100+ workshops, summits, and conferences around topics including facilitation, graphic recording, sketchnoting, human-centered design, design thinking, group dynamics, and team-building including the 2025 Ampersand Gathering, the 2021 IFVP East Coast Gathering, two Summer of Design Series, and two DC Service Jams.
She hosted and produced the Note of Daring Podcast.
Rachel is an avid reader, recent runner, and enjoys boardgames, sand volleyball, and traveling the world. She is based in Cary, North Carolina with her dog, Devin.
